If you are interested in adopting a wild mustang or burro please read the following article first!
From Wild to Tame
My newest halter project Black Beauty BLM Mustang #9742, 15.2 hands, 4 year old, black mare from Bitner HMA. She
has a very nice disposition on her... very calm... very easy to work with. She has been to 3 adoptions this year, I watched
the trainer work with her at the livermore adoption, she was great I couldn't believe it when no one adopted her. She is a
nice 15.2 hand mustang that is built like a quarter horse, real nicely put together. I like her, I couldn't let her go back
to the corrals again! Hope I can find her a home!!!!
My Halter Project went to Napa Adoption May 15, 09 but didn't find a home so she came back home to my ranch: BLM Mustang
#0404 is a little Mealy Bay Yearling Filly from Buffalo Hills in Nevada. I named her Millie because of her color. She is a
long leggy, refine filly with a very calm temperament. I was touching her nose the first night I got her home to Spirit Horse
Ranch. Second Day I was leading her around and playing 4 of the 7 games of Parelli with her. These games where the friendly,
porcupine, driving and yoyo games. I wormed her the third day, and she was so easy. The fourth day I lead her around and was
picking up her front feet. Let’s just say for the record this is a really nice young filly with lots to offer. I really
like her a lot. She will probably finish out around 14 hands, and with her refined looks and good nature she will make a really
nice buggy horse or kids horse. She is eating grain already, I put some sunflower seeds and calf manna in it, she looks for
it in the morning and at night. I haven’t started grooming her with brushes, only been using my hand, but she is sure
looking sleek.
Sapa was adopted at the Rendezvous 2009 in Turlock!
My Halter Project Sapa, yearling filly, she came from the Santa Rosa Adoption 5-3-08.
"Sapa" Blm Mustang #0279
She has come along really slow but is doing really well. I can catch her without the catch
rope on, she leads around well, I groom her without holding on to her, and I can pick up all 4 feet and clean them out, plus
she does load easy in the trailer. Sapa is from The Red Rock Lakes HMA which is located about 10 miles east of Macdoel, CA
in northern Siskiyou County, California.
Reassigned 7-18-08!
Donkey was adopted at San Jose adoption! He was bought to my ranch for broading
and gentling. But due to personnal problems his new owner can not take him home. So he needs a new home soon! He is coming
around so quickly, I'm really going to miss Donkey when he leaves, if I didn't have so manying animals I would adopt him.
He loads in trailer, anyone can walk up and pet him, I can pick up his front legs, still working on back legs, and he
is starting to lead a bit. This was my first time working with a burro and it has been fun and so different from a horse.
Come out and look for yourself, you could be the next proud adopter from Spirit Horse Ranch!
Reassigned 7-16-08! BLM Mustang yearling Colt Sir Henry is going soon to his new home in San Martin!
Yeah!
Henry does it all! He loads in trailer, loves anybody that comes to the ranch, loves being
groomed, loves other horses, he is such a lover boy that you just can't resist. he is only 12.2 hands high so I don't think
he will be a very big boy when he grows up. He came from an outside herd area North of Death Valley, CA near the
town of Dryer, NV.
Sapa and Henry did go to the Litchfeild Adoption June 14, 08, but they didn't get adopted. They
both can be adopted from the ranch! Please feel free to pass this page on!
These are BLM Mustangs that have come to the Ranch and gotten new homes from here.
